Dinner usually refers to the most significant and important, meal of the day, which can be the noon or evening meal (Pakacio,2009). However there are two types of dinner meals which are Formal or casual dining. Barbara Bistro restaurant hosted formal dinner for the Mupane Gold Mine executive employees. At the dinner the gentleman were wearing nice suit or tuxedos and the ladies were wearing cocktail dress, ball gowns and evening dresses. STYLE OF SERVICE

The event theme determines the style of service, states (Walker and Walker. 2014), and the service style depends on the layout of the restaurant, menu, personal preference and target market. At the event the restaurant was set to professional standards to suit the event theme, and also to allow efficiency in service delivery process (Cousins, et al. 2002). The Ala carte style of menu were chosen, a menu with all the dishes individually priced and dishes cooked to order. The competent of the serving staff were taken into consideration as there were able to match the flow of service and more importantly to customers the taste of their expectations.

TEACHER TRAINING FAREWELL

Farewell Party is a current common practice that is mostly associated with organization employees, who are on transfer or retiring (vocabularydictionary.com 2007).It is a time when others have the opportunity to acknowledge your contribution in an organization. It is time to say “thank you” and “Goodbye”.

As a hospitality student we were asked to organize and cater for one of teacher training staff member who was on transfer. The event came to success as most of the customer needs were considered planned menu, set up of the restaurant and location.

RESTAURANT SET UP
According to Cousins,et.al (2002) states that table setting in any restaurant is determined by the style of cuisine its serves, at the event the style of service that was used to serve guests was buffet. They are many types of service like al carte and buffet is generally a self-service form of dining in which the customer pays a fixed price and is entitled to select as much food as he or she wishes. Lillicrap and Cousins(2010).The buffet should be set up in a prominent position in the room, making sure that there is ample space for display and presentation (Lillicrap and Cousins(2010) at the event there was plenty of space for customers circulation and the clearing of used crockery and cutlery were carried out without disturbing the customers

MENU PLANNING,
When planning a menu there are factors needed to be considered (quality, price, food preparation, dietary or nutritional claims and point of origin( Walker and Walker 2014)  but the basic rule of menu planning is to know your customers. Before the event the chef meet with the customers to find out, what they wanted to be serve with during the event. A three course meal was planned

BOTSWANA ACCOUNTANCY COLLEGE VALENTINE DINNER

The 14 February is well known month of love, every establishment or food outlets look forward to produce spectacular romantic dinner experience. Valentine is love and affection between intimate companions (Timeanddate.com, 2015).The hospitality BAC class also find it fit to organize and plan the dinner for the night. Typically in organizing such event takes certain aspects that guests can look forward to enjoy their love day, for example color, ambiance, food, music and location

LOCATION

For conference events, Shone (1998) identified that location will be the key considerations, with the venue needing it to be close to the city. The valentine dinner was held at Barclays Plaza BAC campus which is in the center of the city and easy to reach. Hosting the dinner in one of the classes helps in controlling audience’s entrance and exits, lights and sound of the music.

FOOD

Catering can be the major element in the staging, depending on the theme and nature of the event (Bowdin, et al 2012).At the event they were two set of menu, the buffet and cocktails menu. The buffet menu was for the couples and the cocktail menu was for the singles. Consumption of alcohol beverages at an event gives rises to many concerns for the event manager (Graham et al.2001) but at the event alcohol was not allowed as the dinner was catered for students and it was in the school premises.

According to Robertson, and Frew,(2008) states that there are different kinds of events depend on the theme, weddings, marathon, charity and soccer. Music and arts bring community together and soften the soul of people (Mintel 2000). Francistown Golf Club is one of the establishments that is focusing most on promoting music and also to go abroad bring international festivals. In 20-October-2014 it hosted Abbort & Crabb from South Africa. An event that was organized to fundraiser their Golf Club. In this event they were certain aspects of event management that were carried out like planning, organizing to properly to achievement of the event, stage setting, lights, artists management and sound engineering.

FRANCISTOWN MARATHON SPORTS EVENT

Events such as marathon are used to bring the community together, promote the destination and also to encourage the fitness (Bowdin, et al 2012) Francistown marathon was an event organized by be-mobile in conjunction with KBL. During this event they were aspects like volunteer roles, athletes’ managers, training needs.
VOLUNTEER ROLES

According to Connors, (1995) states that a volunteer is a person who freely offers to take prat in an enterprise or undertake a task, Volunteers are an excellent source of information about how well the event may be coordinated, managed and delivered. The marshals were involved in many aspects in the event such as directing the runners, catering, first aid or medical assistance. Marshall were categorized into sections improper arrangements of transportation ended up being left(dropped)at sections that they were not supposed to be and also shortage of branded merchandised for volunteers.

TRAINING NEEDS

In the case of marathons volunteers are supposed to be well trained in each and every aspects of their role (Supovitz,2005).Failure to do so will end up affect the runners. At the event some of the volunteers did not know how to hand waters to runners who are in motion which led to runners complaining and also marathons where categorized in groups, it was very important for the volunteer marshal to know where to direct each and every category.
ATHLETS MANAGEMENT

For the marathon event to be effective one has to consider runners management (Theodoraki,2007). Runners have to be managed to avoid cheating and also as it is a call for world athletics board to fight drug use in sport, it is important to consider this aspect. During Francistown marathon there was detector machine that was used to avoid runners to cheat in their race and also recommend drug assessment for the runners.
